Gatehouses: State Parks in Mississippi
Gatehouse
These small gatehouses serve as welcome and control centers for each state park of Mississippi. The use of common building materials and style is reminiscent of the 1920’s CCC (Civilian Construction Corps) buildings that were built in the parks when they were first established in the beginning of this century. A prototype of each building type has been designed and will be site adapted to each of the 28 Mississippi State Parks as funding becomes available.
Shown on the following pages are examples of the entry gatehouses and picnic pavilions that have been designed for construction in each of Mississippi’s 28 State Parks.
